Staff Profiles
Mike Wood
Mike first came across Peregrine Adventures in 1980 as a 21 year old member of the Australian Himalayan Kayak Expedition that undertook the first descent of Sun Khosi river in Nepal which stretches from Tibet to India. Peregrine ran all the land operations for the expedition and Mike became close friends with Mick Chapman who had led Peregrine’s first trek in the Himalaya. Mike stayed in Nepal when the other expedition members returned to Australia and ended up working for the original overland company, Encounter Overland, as a white water rafting guide.
After 3 years he was eventually poached by Mick and Peregrine to help set up Peregrines new operations in Nepal and to train local Nepali guides. Over the six years that Mike was based in Nepal he trekked, rafted, kayaked and climbed all over the Himalaya including the Everest region, the Annapurna’s, Lang Tang, Helambu, Makalu, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Kashmir, Zanskar, Ladahk, Sikkim and in other Himalayan countries like Bhutan and Tibet. He has led treks and expeditions now for 30 years. In 1993 he was a member of the Australian Everest Expedition celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the ascent of Everest.
Mike has not confined himself to the Himalaya, he has travelled to every continent including twice to Antarctica, he has climbed Kilimanjaro, explored the old slave forts of Ghana, trekked in Patagonia, climbed on Aconcagua, gone on safari in South Africa, driven a truck in Tunisia, trekked in the European Alps, skied in Hokkaido Japan, sea kayaked in places as diverse as Fiji, Antarctica, Canada and the Southern Ocean and walked the entire 1000 km length of the Bibbulmun Track.
For those who are keen on travelling with their children, Mike has taken his 3 kids on treks throughout Nepal including the in the Everest area. After owning and operating the Mountain Designs adventure stores in WA for 20 years Mike finally sold the business in September 2010 and is now concentrating on the Peregrine Travel Centre WA after buying it from Peter in 2008.
He is very excited about his next trip to the Galapagos in February 2011 and his next India and Sikkim trip in April 2011. Mike has plans to take 2 treks back to Nepal in 2012, one in the Dhaulagiri region and one in Tibet.
Anna Bulleid
Anna has 20 years industry experience and has travelled to close on 60 countries since being “bitten by the travel bug” in her mid-teens. After completing her travel degree in 1990 she bought the one-way ticket to London and spent the next couple of years working for Contiki as a site rep in the picture postcard perfect village of Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland and then as a tour leader with Top Deck, allowing her to travel extensively all over Europe including the Scandinavian countries.
After a two year stint back in Perth as a retail consultant Anna strapped on the backpack again and headed to South America for 3 months, starting in Rio de Janerio and visiting such highlights as Iguaçu Falls, Bariloche, The Altiplano, Cusco and Machu Picchu. On the way home Anna decided to get off the flight in Africa and stay. For over 3 years Anna worked as a tour leader with an overland company running tours anywhere from 2 to 9 weeks in duration between East and Southern Africa. During this time she guided groups through a multitude of wildlife parks, trekked on many occasions to the Mountain Gorillas, canoed and rafted the Zambezi River and camped in wild “off the beaten track” locations; so started a passion for not only all things African, but wildlife and wilderness in general which along with a passion for photography has not diminished over the years.
Since joining Peregrine Travel Centre in 2000, Anna has continued her love affair with Africa and annually escorts small private groups to Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and beyond. Her travel repertoire has not been confined just to Africa over the last 10 years, she has visited such places as the Middle East; Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Morocco, with their fascinating ancient history, South East Asia, Indochina and India, shortly she will add Central Asia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to the mix. Anna has also sailed to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, Antarctica and Svalbard in the High Arctic on the Akademik Ioffe, plus visiting the Amazon Jungle and Galapagos Islands in Ecuador a must see for any lover of wildlife.

Jos has worked with Peregrine Travel Centre WA since 1998.
Nerida Roberts
Nerida joined the Perth Peregrine team in May 2009. She started her career in the travel industry in 1998 with a South America specialist agency in Melbourne which provided a solid grounding in travel and work experience to this amazing and diverse continent.
Then in 2000 Nerida started her 5 years working with the Peregrine Travel Centre in the Melbourne Head office, where her experience both in travel and in the office opened up to all continents. After a brief hiatus spending some time out of with work force to do some travelling and then a few years with World Expeditions she is very pleased to have returned to Peregrine. Her passion for travel and exploring places less travelled started when she trekked and did volunteer work in Nepal as a teenager.
Over the years her travel experiences have taken her to the colourful state of Rajasthan in Northern India, trekking the Inca trail in Peru, the amazing Atacama desert in Chile and time exploring parts of Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, China, Latvia, The Netherlands, Switzerland, New Zealand, Egypt & East Africa.
In May 2010 Nerida travelled along the ancient Silk Road with Peregrine on the 19 day China Silk Road tour and she will be travelling with Gecko’s in Feb 2011 on the 14 day Highlights of Laos tour before flying down to southern Laos to do some trekking on the Bolevan Plateau and chill out for a day or so in the Four Thousand Islands on the Mekong. Nerida loves travelling to new and exotic destinations meeting people, learning about their culture, customs and history; exploring scenic and remote country sides; and food, both cooking and eating…particularly in Asia - as you can see in her picture, enjoying a bowl of noodles at a Hutong restaurant in Beijing!
Grace Masias
When I was a little girl growing up in Peru, the words 'travelling' and 'overseas' instigated a thousand and one discussions around the dinner table. I grew up with a thousand images of exotic places that I wanted to visit and experience
When my family and I moved to Australia, travelling was still on my mind. In order to pull together my travel funds, I did all type of odd jobs - trust me cleaning raw prawns for a living is as glamorous as it sounds! Nevertheless, it was all worth it when I was able to book my first round the world trip. The best advice I received was from a well travelled relative when she said, "Take the pictures with your heart, that way they will be with you forever."
After so many journeys I've learnt that travelling is more than a postcard, a stamp in your passport or a nice tan. It is about opening your mind to new ideas, customs and traditions and yes - they can stay with you forever.
